Radford ::
Year 3 Electrical & Electronic
Engineering, AUT
In school I knew I wanted to work in science or technology, but
wasn't sure which line of work to pursue.
Mechanical Engineering?
Biology? Computer programming? They all sounded just as interesting
as each other.
Going on the Sci-Tech Experience helped clarify
my options though, giving me a taste of what it's like working
in these professions.
It was fun, creative and involving, with
lots of practical activities. I got to visit some excellent science
and technology educators, rub shoulders with inspirational lecturers
and tutors passionate about the subjects they taught.
It was also
a good chance to meet some like-minded people.
The student mentors
looked after everyone and helped out with the practical activities,
sharing their advice and experience of their own.
Take it from
someone who knows, if you want to make an informed choice about
going on to study after leaving school you'll need all the knowledge
and experience you can get your teeth into. The Sci-Tech Experience
was a great place to start.
